As a leading research university, FAU is keen to provide its scientists and scholars with the best possible support in initiating and carrying out research projects. Support is provided both by the University as a whole and by the faculties, covering all steps in the application process from giving advice on funding, to providing support and start-up funding during the application process and all the way to the initial project phase. Events are held regularly giving information on the individual funding providers and programs.

DFG advice

FAU provides comprehensive support to applicants including checking proposals and establishing contact to experienced applicants. It also has lists of providers for rooms, accommodation, catering and coaching as well as for professional proofreading and printing services. The University also provides useful resources such as sample applications, compilations of questions for reviews and tips and hints for making an application.

EU advice

Applicants at FAU are offered comprehensive advice in their search for the right funding program, supported by strategic advice about Horizon Europe as well as consultation on their requirements for drawing up an application. Researchers can also benefit from seed funding for projects coordinated by FAU. This package of support is completed with informative events that provide valuable insights into the application process.

FAU is happy to provide advice and support on all questions relating to third-party funding and related legal affairs. H3 provides support with the formal aspects of applying for research projects to the DFG, EU or the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and with budget planning. Numerous resources and points of contact are available should you require further information about specific third-party funding providers and various ministries.
