Three values lay the foundation for the FAU brand. They are integral to daily life and offer direction in research, teaching, knowledge transfer and administration. These values are more than just words – they guide our daily actions and are constantly evolving.

FAU’s values:

• Innovation A forward-looking approach, scientific advances, interdisciplinary open mindedness and the courage to venture down new pathways.
• Diversity: Embracing diversity in practice in disciplines, ways of life and outlooks. Diversity goes beyond structures to encompass the recognition of different points of view and cultural backgrounds.
• Passion: Engagement, enthusiasm and creative drive define actions at FAU. Passion is expressed in research, teaching and daily life, driven by curiosity and a wish to make a difference.

These values are not abstract, they are a specific benchmark for living and working with one another, for research and teaching, for collaborating with partners from industry, society and politics. Principles influence our actions on a daily basis, in the small decisions we take and in strategic developments.
