Penn Admissions

October 7, 2024

Were you thinking financial aid processes should just be easier? *So did we!* That’s why we’ve made them easier at Penn.

We want to make sure that our admissions and financial aid processes are *digestible and easy to follow* — and that you have the information you need when you need it.

In that spirit, we’re excited to share that our Student Financial Aid team has simplified the financial aid application process, requiring fewer forms and documents and adding a new level of ease for students and families.

*And the best part?* These changes are effective immediately starting Fall 2024:

1. Admitted students who are packaged as [highly aided students](https://srfs.upenn.edu/financial-aid/highly-aided) in their first year, only need to submit a FAFSA each subsequent year as their renewal application. International highly aided students do not need to submit anything after their first year.
2. Applicants are no longer required to submit the Penn Outside Resource Form. The FAFSA and the CSS Profile are now the only required applications.
3. Applicants with a non-custodial parent are only required to supply that parent's financial information once. After the first application, students will not have to resubmit non-custodial parent information each year.
4. Applicants only need to submit the primary parent W2 (which should match the primary parent listed on the FAFSA application). Second parent W2s are no longer required.
5. Canadian applicants no longer need to submit a T4 tax form.

For more details and to stay up to date on our financial aid policies and requirements, please visit Penn's [Prospective Undergraduate Student Checklist](https://srfs.upenn.edu/financial-aid/apply/prospective-UG-checklists). This will serve as a good starting point to get you where you need to go.
