Start at the School of Nursing if you want to advance the entire profession, from research & education to practice & policy at one of the world’s leading nursing schools.

As a Nursing student, your academic experience will combine clinical experiences with an exceptional liberal arts and sciences foundation. Our students and graduates become leaders who shape the future of health care practice, policy, and research.

The School of Nursing partners with top-ranked teaching hospitals and clinical agencies to fulfill our requirement of three years of clinical experience.  You will learn from and be mentored by the nation’s top nurse educators and researchers as you delve into the science of nursing through real life experience.

After completing a Bachelor of Nursing (BSN), many nursing students pursue one of Penn Nursing School's master's degree programs. You may choose this option as early as your senior year.

## In Applicants to the School of Nursing, We Would Like to See:

## Coordinated Dual-Degree, Accelerated and Specialized Programs

If you have focused academic interests, you can that will enable you to earn more than one degree as you delve deeply into a specific area of interest. The [NHCM](http://www.nursing.upenn.edu/students/advising/DualDegrees/NHCM/Pages/default.aspx): Nursing and Health Care Management program covers the rapidly changing reality of financing healthcare in the United States, and allows students to earn a degree in the School of Nursing while also earning a degree from the Wharton School.

## Hands-on Learning

As a Penn nursing student, clinical practice is a core part of the learning experience. For our students, this means they receive practical, hands-on experience and gain confidence in working within healthcare, academic, and research settings. Through Penn’s longstanding partnerships with some of the nations’ top hospitals and research institutions, clinics, and research facilities, students are placed in clinical settings that fit their educational and professional goals.
