We want you to be able to thrive at Penn: that means meeting your accessibility needs so you can focus on learning, exploring, and connecting. You'll have access to resources, support centers, and dedicated staff to help you experience academic and student life to the fullest!
How Does Requesting Accessibility Accommodations Work During the Admissions Process?
Many students have questions about disclosing their disability needs when they apply to Penn. The short answer is you don't have to if you're not comfortable sharing that information with us at the application stage. If you are in need of accessibility accommodations during the application process, you can request them directly through the application platform you are using.
Penn doesn't discriminate against students with disabilities, and students are notrequired or expected to disclose disabilities when they apply to Penn. You can rest assured though, that we are committed to creating an equitable environment and supporting your needs during your time at Penn.
Requesting Accommodations as a Student
You've got enough on your plate as you finish high school and apply to colleges! The process for requesting accommodation begins after you've been admitted to and enrolled at Penn. Accommodations requests go through Penn's Weingarten Center, which provides services for students who self-identify with a disability in order to ensure equal access to all University programs, activities, and services.
Getting support begins when you request accommodation. You'll be asked to provide documentation of your condition and meet with a Disability Specialist. From there, any accommodation you receive will be a team effort! You'll work with Disability Services staff to coordinate your academic accommodations as well as accessible housing, dining, communication, and technology.
We're committed to providing reasonable accommodations for your known disability, and we provide a variety of resources to ensure Penn is accessible to everyone in our community! Check out some of what we offer below.
