Meet Dean Soule

I’ve worked in college admissions for over 30 years, and I must say that I love my job. Whether meeting college-bound students and their support teams or collaborating on a new initiative with some of the best and brightest colleagues in the world, the Penn community inspires me – and I’m so glad to be here.

Over the course of my career in admissions, I’ve witnessed a lot of change. Change that’s still ongoing and that many students, counselors, supporters, and admissions offices are navigating right now. My primary focus is on the future and bridging the gap between what ‘has been’ and what ‘can be’ to make the entire admissions process less complex and more accessible (and digestible, valuable, rewarding…all the things) for students in their college search.

As part of the incredible Penn Admissions team, I find immense joy in welcoming new students to campus each year. It’s truly incredible to match a person to each unique story and tidbit of information provided in their application. I’ve been particularly inspired by the gratitude expressed by applicants in their thank-you notes. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, let me explain.

Fun fact: I love coffee, boxing, snacking all day, and laughing. I also adore dogs. I spend a lot of time with my good-boy rescue pup, Smalls, and I can be very easily distracted by silly dog memes.
