Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS Wins Prestigious MAKKNa 2025 Award for Excellence in Fire Safety Governance

Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) has emerged as the WINNER under the Institute of Higher Learning category at the Majlis Anugerah Keselamatan Kebakaran Nasional (MAKKNa) 2025, presented by the Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia (JBPM). This marks UTP’s inaugural achievement in this prestigious national award, recognising the University’s unwavering commitment and continuous efforts in elevating fire safety standards across its facilities.

The award ceremony, held on 24 November 2025 at Hotel Raia, Alor Setar, Kedah, was officiated by YAS Dato’ Sri Nor Hisham Mohammad, Director General of JBPM.\

Introduced in 2022, MAKKNa represents one of JBPM’s highest honours, dedicated to recognising premises management that demonstrates outstanding excellence in fire safety governance and practices. The award also acknowledges the sustained efforts and commitment of organisations in upholding and enhancing fire safety, particularly within workplace environments, operational management, and building infrastructure.\
