FAQ
1. Can a student with a non engineering background be accepted for MSc in Petroleum Engineering?
\
Yes, students from a non engineering background (especially those from science backgrounds) can enrol in MSc in Petroleum Engineering by research. However, they need first to take a few prerequisite courses (typically two courses) before formally being registered as MSc students.
\
2. What type of fundings a student may receive to do his MSc or PhD by research at UTP?
\
There are different options for receiving funding to financially support MSc and PhD study by research at UTP. The internal funding include Graduate Assistantship (GA) and Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA).
\
3. What is the difference between GA and GRA?
\
GA is a scholarship scheme where UTP sponsors qualified students from the university financial resources. UTP allocates an annual budget for the GA scheme to pay for the tuition fees and monthly stipends.
