Introduction

Rising energy demand is at odds with the threat of fast depleting energy resources—demanding energy providers to engage a strategic approach to energy management. Amid intensifying scrutiny over costs, carbon output and sustainability, the oil, gas and energy industry requires a resourceful talent pool of energy management professionals to navigate global challenges in support of UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
In response to the global forces at work, Master of Business Administration in Energy Management (MBA-EM) prepares students to pivot to new technologies and drive towards a model that supports future-ooking strategies. As such, the programme exposes students to a wide array of real industry challenges and case studies. In addition to lectures, the programme offers multi-sided learning approaches such as seminars and consultancy based projects. Ultimately, by leveraging the latest energy management knowledge and trends, students are poised to play a critical role in the design of the industry's carbon-neutral future.

The MBA-EM ODL programme runs for 5 trimesters, 50 credit hours, 20 months with a comprehensive curriculum design. The programme delivered via e-learning platform, UTP ULearnX, comprises Business Core modules, Energy Management modules and a Management Consultancy Project.

What is ODL & How it is Conducted in UTP
ODL stands for Open and Distance Learning, a way of studying remotely that offers flexibility for learning from anywhere, anytime, and anyhow with self-directed learning strategies.
In UTP, ODL is conducted as below:
- 100% online with self-instructional materials (SIMS)
- 8 hours of online live class session for each course in one semester
- Classes after working hours/over the weekend
- Online open-book final exam

- Bachelor’s Engineering Degree or any relevant field from a recognised university with a CGPA of 2.50 - 2.74 or its equivalent OR;
- Bachelor’s Engineering Degree or any relevant field from a recognised university with a CGPA of 2.00 - 2.49 or its equivalent will require 5 years of working experience and internal rigorous assessment

- Native English speakers or holding a degree with English as the medium of instruction may be exempted from this requirement

FAQs
1. Will the test and final exam be conducted online?
Yes, all test and final exam will be conducted online via UlearnX on weekend.
\
2. Do I need to come to UTP campus?
No, all ODL students will not need to come to UTP campus throughout their study. However, we might see each other in various engagements held in Kuala Lumpur.
\
3. What is the added value for MBA-EM at UTP?
There will be a session with Adjunct lecturers from Industry. We also have an Adjunct Professor talk with MBA-EM annually and a Visiting Professor to co-teach in certain subjects.
