- ​The above fees for Research are on an annual basis. However, the fees will be aggregated and charged every semester
- \*RM3000 refundable personal bond, or deposit is required from all international students.
- All fees are correct at the time of this page for the current intake year. The Management of UTP reserves the right to revise fees as and when required.​\

Please note that the commitment fee is part of tuition fees, which will be forfeited if applicants fail to register at the University or withdraw from the programme after registration.\

### **Other Matters for Consideration**

Candidates are advised to prepare sufficient funds to cover the following expenses:

- Hostel rental of approximately RM260 per month
- Food and beverage cost of approximately RM500 per month
- Purchase of a personal laptop if do not previously own one
- Transportation costs​\

### **Financial Assistance**

#### i) UTP Graduate Assistantship Scheme (GA)

##### How to apply?

1. Select your research area or topic from the given list ONLY.
2. Submit your application at
   [UTP Admission Portal](https://utpdec.microsoftcrmportals.com/admission/)
   \
   (Kindly select GA under the Financial & Scholarship Information)

*Note:* For PhD applicants applying for GA, your research area must be selected from the provided Topics and Subtopics list. Applicants outside this list are not eligible.
Example: Topic – Liquid Biofuel; Subtopic – Biodiesel.

Eligibility: MSc by Coursework applicants must obtain a final CGPA of 3.25/4.00. MSc by Research applicants must have at least one publication ranked in Q1 or Q2.

##### Application Deadlines

- January intake: 1st week of October (preceding year)
- May intake: 1st week of February
- September intake: 1st week of June

##### Requirements

- Minimum CGPA 3.25/4.00 or equivalent.
- English requirements:
  - Engineering: IELTS 5.0 or TOEFL 500
  - Non-Engineering: IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 550
- Meeting UTP entry requirements.

##### Coverage & Conditions

- For full-time PhD research students only.
- Covers tuition fee and research methodology fee (first attempt only).
- Students must pay:
  - Resources Fee: RM2,400 annually (Full-Time mode)
  - Viva Voce Fee: RM3,000
- Not covered: registration fee, accommodation, transportation, viva voce examination fee, semester fee.
- Teaching assistantship: 84 hours/semester (tutorials, labs, or related activities).
- Research commitment: 22 research days/month.
- Monthly subsistence allowance: RM3,000.00 (PhD students).

#### ii) UTP Graduate Research Assistantship Scheme (GRA)

- For full-time research students only.
- Minimum CGPA 3.25/4.00.
- Covers tuition fee and research methodology fee (first attempt only).
- Students must pay:
  - Resources Fee: RM2,400 annually (Full-Time mode)
  - Viva Voce Fee: RM3,000
- Not covered: registration fee, accommodation, transportation, viva voce examination fee, semester fee.
- Teaching assistantship: 84 hours/semester​.
- Research commitment: 22 research days/month.
- Monthly subsistence allowance: Based on grant affordability (MSc & PhD students).
