Introduction

\

A master programme in Electronics Systems Engineering Programme is tailored to train young graduates and professionals with advanced design in integrated circuit design and applications and entrepreneurship skills to enable them to perform R&D and commercialisation activities and move up the value chain from the manufacturing era to the design era of the electronic industry.

\

Besides providing in-depth knowledge of specific subject areas, this programme is also intended to expose the graduates and engineers with a range of analytical and research skills that would be of long-term value. Graduates with a Master of Science in Electronics Systems Engineering degree will enhance their employment and career prospects in the telecommunication, computers, and electronics and semiconductor industry. The degree is also a good starting point for a career in research and academia. \ \

Programme Objective

  1. Electronics Systems Engineering specialists with insights to articulate complex industry problems and solutions.
  2. Industry leaders with integrity towards sustainable development through continuous improvement and innovation for the betterment of society.​

Programme Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate in-depth and frontier knowledge and understanding in the relevant field/s or practice
  2. ​Critically and creatively apply knowledge in one or more fields to resolve complex disciplinary and practical problems
  3. Conduct credible problem solving or investigation to resolve complex issues and questions in the field or practice
  4. Conduct research or investigation with minimal supervision adhering to legal, ethical, professional and sustainable practice
  5. Demonstrate leadership qualities through collaboration with peers and others
  6. Communicate and interact effectively with peers in the field/s as well as general audience
  7. Select and use suitable digital and analytical tool techniques to resolve problems

Programme Highlights

  1. Three elective courses were designed and updated based on current needs of IC design companies in Penang, i.e. Low power VLSI course, Advanced Digital Systems Design course, and System Verification course covering the following topics

  2. low power design​\

  3. memory design
  4. verification & test\

  5. The programme heavily uses System Verilog & Python

  6. Exposes students to the digital and analog integrated circuits design
