​Research Attachment Programme

Programme Details

Open for all undergraduate and postgraduate student who interested to broaden and enhance their research experience with partner universities around the globe.\

Programme Period

Minimum of 2 months until 12 months depending on mutual agreement with Host University​

Programme Eligibility

  1. Open for all full time undergraduate with minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent and postgraduate student.

  2. Fulfil​ host institution English requirements such as

  3. ​A minimum IELTS score of 5.0 OR

  4. A minimum TOEFL PBT score 500 OR
  5. A minimum TOEFL iBT score of 59 OR

  6. A minimum TOEFL CBT score of 173 OR   ​Minimum IELTS score of 5.0 / CEFR B1 OR - a minimum     ​​TOEFL PBT (410– 413) / IBT (34) OR

  7. No financial outstanding, satisfactory financial ability for the whole duration of the programme

  8. Not undergoing SIIP during programme duration
  9. Active participation in Co-Curricular and academic activities
  10. Good disciplinary record
  11. Agree to be responsible for the total cost incurred \

Application Process

  1. Find a Supervisor/ Host Institution

  2. Find the department or research centre that are most relevant to your area of interest.

  3. Approach the potential supervisor.

  4. Confirmation from applicant to accept the placement offered by the potential supervisor under the agreed terms and conditions. i.e. research topic, funding, duration, etc.

  5. Student to contact UTP Student Mobility Office if in​tended to apply for YUTP partial financial assistance after receiving the offer letter and get approval to participate at least from UTP supervisor.

  6. ​Open for Malaysian

  7. Maximum duration for partial​ funding is up to 6 months​.

  8. Funding up to 50% from the total YUTP estimated expenses only for USA and European countries.

  9. UTP supervisor and student to prepare memo to obtain travel approval to participate in the applied programme offered by host university. Template Memo Outbound RAP.docx\

  10. Student to inform travel itinerary to Student Mobility Office for safety advice.​\

Programme Fee

May varies depending on country origin, programme package and duration offered by Host University. Fee is to be made to the Host University\ ​​​​

Additional Information

  1. Other important matters​\ Applicants are advice to look up important information such as pre-departure checklist, bench-fees (if any), visa, accommodation, cost of living, insurance, etc. when applying for RAP at particular country.
