On an annual basis, our department will disclose a list of the names of faculty members who are available to advise PhD graduate students in the coming academic year, making it unnecessary to contact faculty individually with this query. Please be advised that the majority of our faculty are not working on the graduate committee or directly involved with the admissions process, nor do they individually determine final decisions. For questions about graduate admissions specifically, please consult the FAQ. Other inquiries should be directed to africana@cornell.edu.

Additionally, as individuals, our department's faculty and staff members are not responsible for purchasing new teaching programs and software, or teaching curricula, nor are they authorized to review and adopt such resources, or to establish partnerships with institutions and initiatives, so please refrain from making related inquiries. Please note that inquiries about purchasing films and documentaries should not be directed to this department but to Cornell's Library. While we co-sponsor music and theater performances on campus, our faculty and staff are not available to independently plan, sponsor or host such events in this department, so ordinarily should not be contacted with such inquires.
