# Kristina Romanenkova

### Overview

Kristina is a PhD student in sociocultural anthropology. Her research explores apartment demolition and renovation in Moscow, Russia. She is asking how socio-political identities, collectivities, and imaginaries are changing as Soviet-era mass housing is being replaced with new residential complexes. Working at the intersection of anthropology, history, and urban studies, Kristina experiments with sensory ethnographic, auto-ethnographic, oral history, and archival methods. Underlying her research are her interests in the art of ethnographic writing and the politics and ethics of knowledge production, especially in area studies. 

Originally from Moscow, Russia, Kristina received her BA in environmental arts and humanities from Sewanee: The University of the South in Tennessee.
