## About us

All cells of an organism share the same genome, and yet its tissues and organs are made up of a plethora of different cell types that have vastly different properties. The specific functions of each cell are determined by its protein content. The genome contains the building plans for these proteins in the form of genes, but each gene also contains the instructions on how and where to make them - and these can be interpreted very differently by different cell types.

Our group is interested in the molecular mechanisms that control how cells decide which proteins to make. We mainly use epithelial development in fruit flies as a model system and our methodology includes next generation sequencing, molecular biology and genetics.
