# Changing publications status in Converis

**Source**: https://www.brookes.ac.uk/sites/research-support/converis/changing-publications-status

**This page is for Oxford Brookes University staff. Its purpose is to explain internal processes to staff members. It was moved into its current location on the website in Autumn 2022.**

**Page content is being revised to reflect the move to the new Research, Innovation and Enterprise Directorate.**

Different roles in Converis  will show different publication status. Users associated with the *Researcher* role may only choose between two different publication statuses:

- **Non-validated**: This is the initial status for a publication that has been created on the system. For example, when you are creating a new publication and you have completed some of the fields, but you want to continue adding more information to the publication at a later date.
- **For validation by library**: This status means that you have finished adding the information to the publication and you want the library to validate your publication in the system.

Once a publication is in this status, you won't be able to change the publication status directly, instead you should **request a change**to the library.

Once a publication has been validated by the library, they will change its status to Validated. If a modification is required to the publication, someone from the library will contact you.
