Programme description
- The master’s programme "Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology" is designed to train specialists in hydrogeology and engineering geology who are capable of solving any tasks: performing engineering-geological surveys and geotechnical studies; surveying the state of soils of building foundations and structures; searching and exploring groundwater for water supply purposes; local monitoring of environmental components; surveying groundwater construction materials; and screening soil and groundwater contamination
- Particular attention is paid to examining topical issues related to the need for research and scientific support for engineering surveys. The academic programme includes all the main scientific and methodological areas of research on the engineering and geological structure of territories, hydrogeological conditions, and exogenous and endogenous processes. The programme combines the fundamentals of geological engineering, soil science, geodynamics and hydrogeology, and geophysical investigation methods. This makes it possible to train a specialist with a wide range of knowledge necessary to solve specific industrial and scientific tasks
- The professional activities of graduates can be carried out in different organisations: design and survey organisations; exploration and production companies; vertically integrated oil and gas companies; and academic and ministerial research institutions that solve fundamental and applied engineering and geological issues. Graduates are prepared to work in production; they can also work in research laboratories and computer centres engaged in research and production
