Programme description
- The master’s programme "Medical and Pharmaceutical Law" combines the study of theoretical and practical issues of the legal framework for protecting citizens’ health in various health systems. It is based on the principles of budget financing, social insurance, and private initiative. The programme is unique in its comprehensive (interdisciplinary) approach to its content. During the training, students study: the legal foundations of the public health and healthcare system of the Russian Federation and various countries; the functioning of healthcare entities; the legal foundations of the standardisation of medicines; the legal regulation of drug circulation and related issues of patent protection; control over offences in the field of drug circulation; the interaction of states in resolving issues of protecting the health of every person; and provision of drugs for citizens, which is of vital social importance
- The programme is aimed at training specialists capable of freely navigating in the medical law issues. They are competitive in the Russian and foreign labour markets, focused on continuous legal education, have in-depth knowledge of the legal institutions studied within the framework of this academic programme. That ensures implementation of Russia’s state policy measures to create a favourable environment for: the development of healthcare including the introduction of digital medicine; and exercising the rights of citizens to quality and affordable healthcare

Professions
The graduates are much-in-demand in all fields and areas of the healthcare profession, as the work of a lawyer is cross functional. Knowledge of the fundamentals of medical law will enable the graduates to work at:
- any medical or pharmaceutical organisation
- international organisations (for example, the World Health Organization), provided they have second-language skills
- federal government agencies of the Russian Federation, state-owned corporations, state and municipal enterprises, consulting companies, international bodies and organisations associated with medical and pharmaceutical activities
Some graduates have become successful lawyers, legal advisers to well-known federal healthcare providers of high medical technology, research institutes of the healthcare system, municipal hospitals and outpatient departments. Lawyers for healthcare and pharmaceutical organisations are much-in-demand.

The programme has been internationally accredited by the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) as part of the institutional accreditation of the Faculty of Law, the Certificate dated 26 February 2021.
