Programme description

The master's programme ‘Baltic and Nordic Studies’ is a comprehensive system to train specialists in international relations. The programme is designed to develop in students a holistic understanding of the Baltic Sea Region. The training includes not only historical and political science aspects, but also economic, social and cultural components. The topicality of this programme is determined by the fact that at present both the Baltic and Nordic countries are of particular interest to the Russian Federation. There is therefore a need for training personnel with theoretical knowledge in this field of study. The programme focuses on providing students with all relevant competences and skills that they will be able apply in practice in future. This degree programme is designed to train experts capable of: providing organisational, communication, expert, analytical, advisory, information and educational services to government agencies and non-governmental organisations engaged in international relation in the Baltic Sea Region and the Northern Dimension; and conducting research activities on relevant topics.
