Programme description

The bachelor’s programme ‘Russian History’ (with additional qualifications "Teacher of history and social studies" / "Teacher of additional education") is designed to foster traditional values in students, develop competencies to analyse Russian and World history, the historical process as a whole, and the role of individuals within it, and the cultural achievements as a result of historical development. A special focus is on cultivating students’ research skills to work with historical sources. Field practice and internships at partner organisations are to ensure alignment with the labour market.

Upon completing the programme graduates will be awarded three diplomas of St Petersburg University: a higher education diploma and a professional retraining diplomas: bachelor’s degree, teacher of history and social studies and teacher of additional education.

Graduates of the programme will be able to apply the acquired knowledge (primarily in the field of Russian history) across various areas of history as a science, as well as apply their skills and personal qualities in real practice and career.

Students of the programme will form a comprehensive understanding of cultural and historical uniqueness of Russia, its place in the World and European civilisation, fundamental patterns and characteristics of historical development process in the World, and of a range of historical issues related to their future professional activities.
