Since 1898, the Museum has occupied the ground floor of a three storey mansion in the early modern style that belonged to the Nabokovs. On the ground floor of the house the interiors of the dining room and the library in Louis XV style survived. The exquisite interiors of the green drawing room are currently being restored.
The Museum on 47 Bolshaya Morskaya Street is the only museum in the world dedicated to the life and works of Vladimir Nabokov.
A large part of the collection are: personal belongings of the writer; items connected with the history of the mansion and the Nabokovs; the first publications of the works of Nabokov; and a large academic library.
A unique collection of the writer’s butterflies is on display in the Museum. This collection is unmatched in the world today.
The Museum regularly holds various events (seminars, readings, panel discussions, presentations of books, meetings) as well as literary and art exhibitions.
