Programme description
- The bachelor’s programme ‘Psychology’ is designed to provide fundamental knowledge of: the general patterns of mental functioning and evolution; psychological phenomena and categories; methods of study; basic approaches and programmes of psychological intervention at individual, group and community levels; the principles of organising the educational and training process; and basic standards and principles of design and application of psychodiagnostic techniques
- The programme is unique in that it combines fundamental academic training with the acquisition of basic practical and professional psychologist skills
- Graduates of the programme are capable of: assessing mental processes and various activities; and assisting in the assessment of personal competences, values, and goals. They have skills in: psychological diagnosis and counselling; methods of correction of mental states and prevention of psycho-emotional stress; and psychological intervention to effectively solve job-related problems and improve the methods used; assessing personal competencies, values, and goals

Teaching staff
- S.Kostromina – Academic Director of the 'Psychology' programme, Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor, and specialist in personality psychology and psychological assessment. She is an author of over 140 works on professional and personal development, including such publications as 'Modern Psychodiagnostics',' Human Psychology: from Birth to Death', 'Psychological Foundations of Self-Organised Learning', 'Psychology of Adolescence', and 'Students’ Research Potential'. She serves as an expert of the Higher Attestation Commission, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Russian Academy of Sciences, while also being a member of presidium of the St Petersburg Psychological Society. Professor Kostromina is a certified practitioner in positive psychotherapy and psychodynamic counselling. She has been awarded honorary diplomas of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of thr Russian Federation for outstanding contributions to training highly qualified specialists
- N. Bordovskaya – Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), and expert for both the RAS and the Russian Science Foundation. She leads following researches: 'Student Research Potential', 'Psychology of Professional Identity Formation', 'Psychology of Educational Environments', and 'Psychological Factors in Future Specialists' Self-Organisation'. Professor Bordovskaya has authored over thirty monographs and teaching manuals, including two textbooks
- N. Grishina – Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor, and specialist in existential psychology and personality psychology. She has authored over 170 research works, including Russia's first textbook 'Existential Psychology', along with seminal monographs such as 'The Psychology of Conflict', 'Psychology of Social Situations. A Chrestomathy' and 'Kurt Lewin: Life and Destiny'
- S. Gurieva – Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor, and MBA graduate from the Stockholm School of Economics in Russia. She is a member of the Expert Advisory Council on the Implementation of National Policy at the Committee for Local Self-Governance, Interethnic and Interfaith Relations of the Leningrad Region; Honoured Worker of Science of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania
- O. Deineka – Doctor of Psychology, Professor. She specialises in political and economic psychology. She has developed original courses on 'Group Destructive Behaviour' and 'Economic Psychology' for undergraduate students
- I.Mironenko – Doctor of Psychological Sciences and Associate Professor. She has authored over 85 research works in the fields of psychological theory and methodology, everyday cognition, and personal life space psychology. Professor Mironenko is an expert of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), she was awarded S. Rubinstein Prize of the RAS in 2020
- A. Nasledov – Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor, specialises in mathematical methods for psychological research. He is the author of Russia’s most popular textbook on applying SPSS software for psychological data analysis and mathematical methods in psychology
- V. Rozanov – Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, leading specialist in the fields of: mental health, stress biology, developing prevention programmes addressing stress and suicidal behaviour. He serves as co-chair of suicidology sections in the World Psychiatric Association, European Psychiatric Association (EPA) and the Russian Society of Psychiatrists. He has authored over 400 publications examining mental health issues, epidemiology of mental disorders, and suicide patterns in diverse population cohorts
- O. Strizhitskaya – Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Developmental and Differential Psychology. She is a leading specialist in studying psychological well-being and the psychology of aging, with particular focus on positive aging and developmental psychology. She has authored over 140 scholarly publications
