Programme description

The bachelor’s programme ‘General History (with the additional qualifications ‘Teacher of History and Social Science’ / ‘Teacher of Additional Education’) educates students in the spirit of traditional values, and develops a skills set that makes it possible to be versed in: general history; the historically determined features of the development of Western civilisation; the historical process as a whole and man’s place in it; and achievements of world culture as a result of historical development.

The programme also focuses on the history of Russia and its interaction with Western countries. During the training, students will acquire comprehensive knowledge of the historical development of the countries and peoples of Europe, North and South America, and Australia, as well as their relations with Asian and African communities and Russia.

The programme includes an in-depth study of global phenomena such as colonialism, imperialism, decolonisation, nation-building, the formation of parties and civil society, globalisation, and integration. The programme also focuses on developing students’ research skills of working with historical records. Field research practices and internships at partner organisations provide professional market-oriented activities.

Upon completion of the programme, graduates are awarded the additional qualifications ‘Teacher of History and Social Science’ and ‘Teacher of Additional Education’.
