Programme description

- The master’s programme "Sociology" at St Petersburg University is one of the most sought-after master’s programmes in sociology in Russia. The programme has been accepting students since 1999. St Petersburg University is the alma mater of Russian sociology, which has more than a century-old tradition of development
- The programme is unique in that it covers diverse fields of study that reflect all areas of sociological research: gender studies; modern sociological theories; modern methods and technologies of social problems research; social anthropology; sociology of politics and international relations; organisational sociology and sociology of personnel management; sociology of culture and communication; economic sociology; sociology of public administration; and research digital society to name just a few
- The programme is unique in that it has its own resource centre for empirical social research using cutting-edge equipment. The programme also provides expert support in all areas of practical sociological work, and a wide range of initiative sociological training and research centres, including international ones
- High quality training is also achieved through cooperation with a wide range of employers — leading Russian and foreign sociological centres, research institutes, and governmental and business structures. This ensures the possibility of effective internships and further employment
