Be the change you want to see in the world! This course will help you become a future entrepreneurial leader who positively impacts society!

The world is facing unprecedented critical issues: poverty, government accountability, income inequality, climate change, unemployment and migration, as well as the long-term impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. This course will take a close look at global issues through an experiential, entrepreneurial and leadership lens, developing your ability to think strategically and systematically about different scenarios and how to unpack them innovatively. Through hands-on experience applications, exposure to entrepreneurs, and key figures from business and society, class trips, and analyzing in-depth current topics through reflective reading and writing, this course aims to develop students into future entrepreneurial leaders and changemakers.\

This course is one of the core courses, from among which students of all majors may select. For students interested in start-ups and sustainable development. 

Note: Program requirements may change by the time the student applies to AUC. If this course is no longer a requirement for the major, it will be counted as an elective course.

About the Instructors

Ahmad E Shahin\ Ahmad E Shahin is an adjunct faculty member at The American University in Cairo (AUC). He has a diverse teaching portfolio with a speciality in operations management and entrepreneurship. His love for technology reflects on his teaching style, as he utilizes technological resources to interactively engage students in discussions about the recent issues in today's world. His hobbies include reading about developing topics and learning new languages. Shahin holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, two master's degrees, one in finance and the other in business, and is currently working on his PhD in management.

AUC Refund Policy

A 100% refund of the program fees will be granted if the request is submitted at least two weeks before the course start date, or if the request is due to one of the following reasons:

A 75% refund will be granted if the request is submitted within the last two weeks before the course start date.

No refund will be issued if the request is submitted after the end of the last working day (4 pm) and before classes begin, including the weekend prior to the course start date, or after the course has begun.
