Secondary School Certificates Requirements

In addition to the general requirements, you need to fulfill the requirements of your secondary school certificate. The minimum cut-off scores for each certificate may change from one semester to another according to University requirements.

Important Note:

• Having the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee admission to the University but rather ensures entry to the selection process.

American High School Diploma

• The evaluation of the American Diploma certificate is a combination of two factors; the cumulative GPA (grades 9 to 12) and SAT-I or ACT-I scores.
• AUC requires a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 (on a scale of 4.0) from an accredited school for admission consideration. Applicants who joined different schools should submit official transcripts from all institutions attended.
• Students must also submit copies of test scores from SAT I or ACT exams. The minimum scores for admission consideration are a combined total score of 950 for the SAT 1 or a compositescore of 20 on the ACT.
• Having the minimum recommended SAT/ACT score does not guarantee acceptance.
• No English exemption will be granted based on the SAT1 English components. Accordingly, all applicants are required to submit official International TOEFL, academic IELTS or Duolingo scores.
• Students who spent less than one and a half years at an accredited American high school must submit ACT 2 in two different subjects of their choice. A minimum score of 22 on each subject is required.
• Preference in admission will be given to students who have received an American high school diploma in 12 years of schooling.
• Applicants interested in engineering programs, actuarial science, data science, and computer science majors are required to have a minimum SAT I-Math score of 560 or an ACT I-Math score of 22 to be considered for declaration at the admission stage.
• The University grants transfer credits for holders of the College Board Advanced Placement (AP) Examinations for academic subjects with scores of 4 or 5 (out of 5). For transfer credit details, click here.

Canadian Certificates

Dogwood Diploma

A minimum average of 75 percent is required for admission consideration.

• For the early admission stage: a copy of the official school transcript for grade 11 and the first semester of grade 12
• For the final admission stage: a copy of the official school transcript for grades 11 and grade 12

Manitoba Diploma

A minimum average of 75 percent is required foradmission consideration.

• For the early admission stage: a total of three courses on a senior-level standard must be completed in grade 12  (code 40 S)
• For the final admission stage: a total of five courses on a senior-level standard must be completed in grade 12  (code 40 S)

Ontario Secondary School Diploma

A minimum average of 75 percent is required for admission consideration

• For the early admission stage: a total of fouruniversity-level subjects (U or M) completed in grade 12, calculated within the average.
• For the final admission stage: a total of sixuniversity-level subjects (U or M) completed in grade 12, calculated within the average.

French Baccalaureate

1. Applicants with a minimum academic average of 10 (passable) will be considered for admission.
2. The University grants up to 30 transfer credits for academic subjects with advanced-level scores of 14 or more (out of 20). For transfer credit details, click here.

IGCSE, GCSE and GCE Certificates

• Applicants are evaluated based on the best eight subjects for admission consideration (including IGCSE/GCSE, GCE AS, and GCE A-level subjects). However, applicants must submit all certificates, as well as their candidate number, to ensure that the University calculates eligibility using the highest eight scores. School transcripts and predicted grades are not recognized for admission consideration.
• Preference is given to students who have completed GCE advanced or advanced subsidiary-level subjects and have excellent grades.
• AUC accepts a minimum grade of C to satisfy the eight subject requirements at the IGCSE/GCSE or GCE advanced subsidiary level and a minimum grade of D at the GCE advanced level.
• AUC counts the higher grades in the same subjects completed at both GCE advanced and advanced subsidiary levels.
• Only copies of the statement of results with an original stamp (from schools or the British Council) are considered for admission evaluation.
• For Arab nationals (Native speakers of Arabic), AUC does not accept  IGCSE/GCSE Arabic (as a second language) as one of the eight subjects.
• The University grants transfer credits for GCE advanced level subjects with grades of A or B. For transfer credit details, click here.

• The following documents are needed as proof of years of enrollment:

• Applicants who have completed years of schooling in an international system are required to submit a grade one final report in addition to year-by-year proof of enrollment (primary to secondary).

• Applicants who have completed six years after ibtdayaor three years after idadiyaare required to submit a copy of the front and backside of the certificate (ibtdayaoridadiya) and ensure that the academic year is clearly printed on the document. Ibtdayaor idadiya certificates with results ofonlyArabic and religion are not considered proof.

German Abitur

1. Applicants with a minimum academic average of four will be considered for admission.
2. The University grants up to 30 transfer credits for academic subjects with scores of ten or more (out of 15). For transfer credit details, click here.

International Baccalaureate

• Holders of the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma will be considered for admission provided that they have completed their diploma requirements and meet the admissions scores for the semester they are applying for. Holders of IB certificates may be accepted, provided they successfully complete the AUC admissions requirements for the American high school diploma or British certificate.
• Predicted grades are not recognized for admission consideration.
• Since the IB grades are released during the summer, and in order to have a complete file for provisional admission consideration, applicants need to submit IELTS/TOEFL/Duolingo scores along with other required documents by the early admission deadline.
• The University grants up to 30 transfer credits for the IB diploma as follows: transfer credits for higher-level academic subjects with grades of 5, 6, or 7 (out of 7). In addition, up to 15 credits of lower-division general elective transfer credits for the completion of the IB diploma with a minimum total points of 30. National certificate/Tawjihi (Arab Countries)

• A score of at least 75 percent is required for admission consideration.
• The evaluation is based on the overall score/percentage stated on the official certificate.

Thanawiya Amma/STEM/Thanawiya Azhariya

• A score of at least 70 percent is required for admission consideration.
• The evaluation is based on the overall score/percentage stated on the official certificate.
