Get started guide

Want to know all the key stepsyou need to take during the first weeks of your student life? Let us help you out! From preparing your life at UT to starting your studies: this useful overview will give you the information you need within each phase.

Steps to take during your first weeks at UT

MyUT app

The most important information for your studies is cleverly integrated in one place. The MyUT app is the official student app of UT. Students of UT can link their (study) timetable and receive push notifications if something has changed.

Goin' App

Would you like to get in touch with other first-year students at the University of Twente before you even arrive in Enschede? You can do so via the app Goin'. Goin' is a social platform where you can meet both other new students and students already in the UT community. The mobile app helps you connect with students who, for example:

Why should I use the Goin' app?

The Goin' app connects you with both current and new students. Join groups based on your interests or education. From workouts, football, yoga or vegan cooking, to LGBTQ+ students, or music, concerts and the best parties in student city Enschede. You choose what suits you best!

You can also search by nationality, using the world map to see where your fellow students are from.

“I really like that it is easy to find people with the same hobbies and interests. I think is really important to find people at the beginning of the year especially if you are moving to a new place.”

Alexander

How can I participate?

Once your admission has been approved, you will receive an invitation email from the University of Twente to join the Goin' app. The mail will contain a link to download the app and create an account. Once you have done that, you will be part of the UT community!

Privacy

Using the Goin' app is your choice. We ask your permission to process your personal data. To create a profile and be visible to others, we need to process certain personal info.

Your one-to-one chats remain private. But for group chats, we keep an eye on you to prevent inappropriate behaviour. Your data and conversations are kept as long as you use the app. If you decide to delete your profile or leave the app, we will delete your data.

Contact and questions

Do you have questions about the Goin' app? Go to 'Profile' in the Goin' app and select 'Contact us'.

First point of contact: your study advisor

Did you know that your first contact is your study adviser? You can turn to your study adviser with questions about your study, study plan and study progress. But also about non-educational related problems, for instance, motivation, doubts and study delay due to personal circumstances. In case of personal circumstances, it is advised to contact your study adviser as soon as possible, even before you start your study programme at UT.

International Student Handbook

The handbook is a practical guide for international students planning to study at UT or who have recently arrived in the Netherlands. The guide will direct you to all the useful information on topics such as housing, formalities, insurance, campus facilities, support, part-time jobs and Dutch culture.
