**After you have sent in your application** for the Master's in Business Administration, a committee will check your eligibility. An outcome of this assessment may be that you first have to complete a pre-master's before being admitted.
What is a pre-master's?
A pre-master's is a transfer programme for students of a **Dutch university of applied sciences ('hbo' in Dutch)** or an**(international) research university** who cannot be admitted directly to the master's they wish to follow. ## What applies to you?
Do you want to get insights into the Pre-Master's? The programme you need to take, depends on your previous or current education. **What kind of education do or did you follow?**
University of applied sciences (Dutch HBO)
As a bachelor's student from a Dutch university of applied sciences (HBO), it is mandatory to follow a pre-master's first to prepare you for this Master's. You are taught various scientific research skills and your knowledge in mathematics and statistics is raised to an academic level. If you manage to successfully complete this Pre-Master’s within one year, you are able to enrol.
#### Contents
The main objective of such a Pre-Master’s programme is to qualify and prepare students for the MSc BA programme. The Admission Committee will send each Pre-Master candidate a letter or e-mail consisting of the specific courses that need to be finalized within certain. In general, most individual pre-master programmes will consist of up to 30 EC of courses that are listed here:

#### Study load
The Pre-Master's is a **six-monthly, full-time study programme of 30 EC** which you have to complete**within one year**. Also, you need to obtain sufficient marks with a maximum of one resit per course. We expect you to take the Pre-Master's seriously. You can't count on being successful if you approach the Pre-Master's halfway.
You can start the Pre-Master's [during](https://www.utwente.nl/en/education/master/admission-requirements/hbo-applied-sciences/hbo-transfer-saxion/) your bachelor's as a transfer minor or after obtaining your bachelor’s degree. The content is the same, but the way of enrolling is different.
#### Admission requirements and how to apply
To qualify for the (Pre-)Master's in Business Administration, you have to meet certain conditions. How you apply, depends on whether you take the Pre-Master's **during or after your HBO bachelor's**.

#### Costs
You pay a fee per EC and this Pre-Master's is 30 EC. Each academic year, the amount per EC will be reassessed. [Visit the tuition page](https://www.utwente.nl/en/education/master/programmes/business-administration/finance/) for the current fees.\

If you choose to fit your Pre-Master's into your current HBO bachelor's, you can avoid extra costs; after all, you already pay tuition fees for your current bachelor's.
Social sciences bachelor's at a Dutch research university (Dutch WO)
As a bachelor's student of UT or another Dutch research university, you first need to find out [if you are directly admissible or you need to follow this Pre-Master's](https://www.utwente.nl/en/education/master/admission-requirements/dutch-degree/#transfer-tools) first. This may be necessary if you intend to follow a master's in a slightly different field of study than your current bachelor's.

International education
As a non-EEA international student, you can only apply for the master’s directly and do not have the option of participating in a pre-master's.

## What is expected of you?
The Pre-Master's is designed not only to address any deficiencies in your prior knowledge, but it is also an effective way to find out whether studying at a research university is right for you. Therefore, the following rules apply:
- You have to complete the Pre-Master’s successfully within one academic year.
- There is a maximum of two exams per course.
- If you do not successfully complete the Pre-Master's, it is not possible to start a pre-master's in another programme at the Faculty of Behavioural, Management and Social sciences at the University of Twente.
