Training for Confidential Contact Persons (CCPs) Be there for your fellow students — with the right tools and support

Being a Confidential Contact Person (CCP) means being someone students can talk to when they’re struggling — whether it’s due to inappropriate behavior, personal issues, or uncertainty about where to turn to. As a peer listener, your role is to offer a safe and approachable first point of contact, and to help guide students towards the right support when needed.

To help you feel well-prepared for this important role, the confidential advisors for students offer a two-part training specifically for CCPs within student associations (study, sports, culture, or other).

During the training, we focus on:\ •      Understanding your role as a CCP\ •      Gaining insight into inappropriate behavior and how to recognize it\ •      Maintaining confidentiality and respecting boundaries\ •      Structuring supportive conversations\ •      Practicing communication techniques and discussing case studies\ •      Understanding the support structure at the University of Twente

The CCP role is not about providing therapy or ongoing guidance. In most cases, one or two conversations are enough to listen, offer support, and help someone to find, if needed, more support. And if you’re ever unsure about a situation or need advice, you’re always welcome to reach out to the confidential advisors for confidential support.

After the training, you can also choose to take part in intervision sessions twice a year — a chance to reflect, share experiences, and continue learning together.

While the training is not formally required, we believe every CCP should be properly trained before taking on the role — whether through this course or a similar one. Being well-prepared is key to offering safe, reliable support to fellow students.

Whether you're already active as a CCP or your association is looking to train someone for this role, this course is a great way to strengthen your skills and contribute to student well-being at UT.
