# Dutch A1

## Result

This course will provide participants with a basic knowledge of Dutch (CEF-level of A1). Participants receive a certificate after full attendance and if the portfolio they created during the course is evaluated positively.

## Content

This intensive course is an introduction to Dutch language. It covers reading, listening, writing and speaking. Participants will also learn more about Dutch culture and society and an excursion to the Rijksmuseum Twenthe.

Translated in terms of the Common European Framework for modern foreign languages (CEF), this means that at the end of this course, participants:

- Can understand and use familiar every-day expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type.
- Can introduce him/herself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows and things he/she has.
- Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

## Duration and time investment

- 35 hrs. of lessons (10 days in two weeks)
- Participants are expected to invest approximately 4 hrs. per lesson day on self-study

## Admission criteria

Open entry. Participants are not expected to have any prior knowledge of Dutch. Knowledge of English (language of instruction) with an approximate level of B1 is required.

  **1. UT bachelor and master’s students: €25,-.**\
  This is a NON-REFUNDABLE and NOT TRANSFERABLE administration fee, payable at registration. \
  Faculties will pay the full course fee for you. \
  **2. UT-employees: €625,-**\
  Faculties and Service departments will pay for you.\
  You need permissions from your head of department. \
  **3. Partners of UT-employees: €625,-**\
  **4. Non-UT participants: €812,50**\
  Partners and non-UT participants can use internet payment to pay the course fee.
- Maximum participants

  Minimum 10 and maximum 15 participants per group
- Trainers

  Qualified teacher of Dutch as a second language
- Course materials

  Provided by the UT Language Centre.
- Requirements

  Open entry. Knowledge of English (language of instruction) with an approximate level of B1 is required.
- Further Information

  We will add a few social and Dutch cultural elements to the program.

  A visit to the Enschede Rijksmuseum is already planned.
