Improving healthcare with an innovative, tech-savvy outlook.

How would the use of a care robot impact doctors, patients and healthcare processes? How do we assess whether or a cutting-edge treatment is better than the old one? Healthcare in the Netherlands is facing significant changes. Do you see yourself managing or testing healthcare innovations in this changing landscape, streamlining care processes for patients and caregivers, or devising innovative policies for public health? Are you looking for an academic programme with a hands-on approach? If you are, the Bachelor's in Health Sciences at the University of Twente (UT) is the right choice for you.

Why study Health Sciences at UT?

Tackle healthcare challenges with an innovative approach

If you choose Health Sciences at the University of Twente, you will be joining an innovative university. You will study at the TechMed Centre, a leading research and innovation centre where researchers, hospitals and companies invent, develop and test improvements and innovations for healthcare. And your role as a health scientist? You will use your knowledge to assess from different perspectives whether the use of technology will improve healthcare. Think of the link between big data and hospital logistics, or ICT and patient communication. This kind of knowledge is becoming increasingly important due to the rising demand for care – and this combination of healthcare and technology is stronger here than in any other bachelor’s programme.

Work on real-life problems and projects throughout the whole sector

In the healthcare sector, you will not only come across patients, caregivers, specialists and technicians, but also insurers, directors and lawyers. In this Bachelor’s, you will learn to weigh everyone's interests and gain insight into the quality of care for individual patients, organisational processes and the impact of policy on national healthcare. This will equip you to oversee the whole healthcare process, while keeping a sharp eye on actual results for patient and for the sector as a whole. In the projects, you will therefore also regularly speak with patients and carry out research assignments and working visits to a variety of (healthcare) institutions. This way, you will learn to apply your knowledge directly in practice and get a clear picture of the professional field!

A programme with a lot of personal attention

Education at the University of Twente is known to be personal and informal, and this Bachelor's is no different. We have an open-door policy and you will receive more individual attention and guidance than at most other universities. The atmosphere between lecturers and students is friendly and informal: you can always approach someone with your questions. Together with our active study association W.S.G. Isaac Newton, we continuously improve our education and organise all kinds of study-related activities. Here, you will live your student life to the fullest and grow both professionally and personally!
