Student life has its challenges. Whether you are facing challenges concerning finances, health, or your studies, explore the available support and seek guidance.

Our support structure is designed to assist you on various fronts. From study advisors to financial aid counsellors, a network of professionals is ready to help.

Are you okay? Find your support

Your first contact in the educational programme is your study adviser. You can turn to the study adviser with questions about your study, study plan and study progress. Some educational programmes also have tutors or mentors for tutoring. A meeting about non-educational related problems is also possible. For instance, about motivation, doubts and study delays due to personal circumstances.

Social safety

Social safety is fundamental for everyone working at, studying at, or visiting UT. Respect, integrity, honesty, and consideration for others are expected on our campus and within our organisation. Together we must ensure our university continues to be a safe place. Being confronted with an unsafe situation or inappropriate behavior can have a huge impact. If you feel unsafe, or mistreated or if you have witnessed an unsafe situation, please inform people around you and try to talk about it. Various support professionals are here to help you whenever you need it, no matter what. Our skilled and committed professionals are always there for you to listen, talk things through, and act. Decisively, respectfully, and with an open mind.

Find more information on the webpage Social Safety at UT.

Just a chat - with the Prevention Advisor

Got questions about alcohol, drugs, gaming or gambling?\ Or maybe you know someone who might be getting a bit too caught up in it?

You don’t have to be in trouble to talk to someone.\ Sometimes it just helps to have a chat — to check in with yourself, see if your habits are still okay, or figure out how to support someone close to you.

That’s what the chat with prevention worker Alexandra van Halen is for.\ No judgment, no hassle — just a space where you can share your story.

Preferred: Students are encouraged to make an appointment in advance via the SGW front desk (red desk, Vrijhof 316). Spontaneous visits are also possible, but availability cannot be guaranteed.

Contact: sgw@utwente.nl
