# Academic English Speaking Advanced

## Result

Further advance your English speaking skills at university level for a variety of contexts.

## Content

Participants will improve their speaking skills in English. Classroom activities will consist of practical tasks and various interactive assignments that include:

- fluency practice through presenting a risk assessment, participating in a seminar debate, delivering a speech, contributing to meetings, presenting a project proposal, providing verbal feedback etc.;
- knowledge of using visual aids and diagrams in a presentational setting;
- input of academic vocabulary, e.g. collocations, formal/informal language, phrasal verbs;
- grammar, e.g. active voice, passive voice, prepositions etc.

Learning will take place in an international classroom environment suited to students’ needs. The language trainer will provide instruction and feedback.

## Duration and time investment

The course is held over 6 weeks, with one session of two hours per week. Homework takes approximately two hours each week. \
The UT Language Centre will issue a certificate of attendance when a participant has attended 80% of the classes, completed 80% of all set learning tasks and demonstrated the required proficiency.

## Admission criteria

In order to determine your level and assess which course is appropriate for you, you are required to do the Oxford Online Placement Test (OOPT). This is an online test which consists of a listening component and a grammar and vocabulary (“Use of English”) component.
