# Google Workspace for Education

**[Google Workspace for Education](https://edu.google.com/products/workspace-for-education/education-fundamentals/)** is a cloud-based suite of productivity tools, which includes [email](http://bmail.berkeley.edu), [calendar](http://bcal.berkeley.edu), [chat](https://chat.google.com/), [contacts](http://contacts.google.com), [drive](http://bdrive.berkeley.edu), [groups (bConnected Lists)](http://bgroups.berkeley.edu), [keep](http://keep.google.com), [meet](https://meet.google.com), [sites](https://sites.google.com/new), [tasks](https://gsuite.google.com/learning-center/products/apps/keep-track-of-tasks/#!/)

These core apps are available to the UC Berkeley community (current students, faculty, staff, and certain affiliates) at no-cost, with no advertisements. These apps are covered under the University of California systemwide contract with Google.

Note that **Google Photos** is disabled for all new accounts created. All existing accounts not using Google Photos as of July 5, 2023 now have Google Photos disabled. If you have a business need for Google Photos, you can complete [this form](https://forms.gle/B8unCkdyW7XhNiPa6) to request access.

\*For collaborative content, use Shared Drives as opposed to a folder-that-is-shared to [prevent data loss](https://berkeley.service-now.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article=KB0015044) when someone leaves UC Berkeley or your team.
