## Filter Categories

#### Filters

**Filters are located at the top of the hub, underneath the different layout options. Select one or more of the following filters to narrow your search of resources for your specific interests**

- **Areas of Study:**Delve into a variety of topics through this filter. Each resource is tagged with a theme such as identity & intersectionality, freedom struggles & liberation, imperialism/colonialism/settler colonialism and many more!
- **Support & Insight:** This filter contains the "categories" detailed in the following section.
- **Desired Format:** Choose your desired content format through this, including books, class activities, and other resource hubs.

#### "Support & Insight" options

Resources on the hub are organized according to the following categories. These categories are also listed in the "I want to explore" filter to select multiple categories at once.

- **Community Resources:** Find initiatives supporting diverse communities, offering practical guidance for instructors and students navigating community support.

- **Ethnic Studies Curriculum Essentials:** Critical resources for Ethnic Studies teaching, enriching practices, and inspiring exploration for experienced and new instructors.

- **Ethnic Studies Foundational Texts:** Top texts (books, journal articles) considered crucial for the teaching of Ethnic Studies, suggested by UC Berkeley Ethnic Studies faculty, graduate students and librarians.

- **Ethnic Studies Theory:** Explore theoretical frameworks shaping Ethnic Studies, fostering critical thinking and deeper connections to the discipline.

- **Instructional Design:** Assorted resources for lesson planning, inclusive teaching, social justice, and recognizing diverse student needs and perspectives.

- **Instructor Enrichment:** Self-education materials for high school Ethnic Studies instructors, enhancing knowledge and classroom discussions.

- **Solidarity-Based Action:** Discover community-based organizations engaging in social and racial justice initiatives, fostering active awareness and engagement.

## Navigation

#### Search Engines

- The hub features two search engines to easily access resources based on keywords of your specific interest. One is located at the very top of the hub page and another is located underneath category descriptions, to the right of "filters".

#### Layout

**Layout options are available to make the hub accessible to your preferences**

- **Gallery: Centered Items** - Resources appear as cards in a gallery format with all resources displayed. When an individual resource card is clicked on, it expands in the middle of the screen.  To exit out of the card, simply click outside of it to return to the main page.
- **Gallery: Sided Items** - Resources appear as cards in a gallery format with all resources displayed. When an individual resource card is clicked on, it expands on the right-hand side of the screen.  To exit out of the card, select the arrows (">>") in the left corner of the card or simply click outside of it to return to the main page.
- **Column View** - Resources appear as cards in a column format with resources displayed according to category. When an individual resource card is clicked on, it expands on the right-hand side of the screen.  To exit out of the card, select the arrows (">>") in the left corner of the card or simply click outside of it to return to the main page.
- **Row View** - Resources appear as cards in collapsible rows with resources displayed according to category. When an individual resource card is clicked on, it expands on the right-hand side of the screen.  To exit out of the card, select the arrows (">>") in the left corner of the card or simply click outside of it to return to the main page.
