The numbers below are presented as a snapshot of our incoming class of first-year and transfer Golden Bears. These are not benchmarks and should only be used as a reference. Admission to UC Berkeley goes beyond academic indicators. We look for [persistence](https://medium.com/@CalAdmissions/what-leadership-looks-like-ab13dbd60469#.4epufoxpz), passion, and a desire to give back. It doesn’t matter whether you’re the [first in your family to attend college](https://medium.com/@CalAdmissions/finding-your-place-at-uc-berkeley-first-generation-students-884325e651fc#.qoem57qie) or you’re the latest in a long tradition of educational excellence: You stand up and you stand out.

Keep in mind that at Berkeley we receive far more applications than we can admit. Consequently, to gain admission, you need to present an academic profile much stronger than that represented by the minimum [University of California admission](https://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/) requirements.

NOTE: The information below is an enrollment estimate based on Office of Undergraduate Admissions data as of 10/2025.
