## Community Powers
Tribal communities have historically experienced discrimination related to civil, religious, land and voting rights which have resulted in barriers to educational and employment opportunities. These communities value unity and connection and are dedicated to making significant contributions to society. Berkeley Career Engagement acknowledges that it sits on [Ohlone Land](https://cejce.berkeley.edu/ohloneland) and honors and respects the Ohlone tribe’s ancestors and descendants. Further, Berkeley Career Engagement embraces the humanity and influence of the Ohlone people and other tribal groups and is committed to supporting their career development and vocational goals.
