The Bonn Graduate Center1 offers you one-to-one consultation on any overarching aspects of doctorates and doctoral studies. In our consultations, we can discuss things such as planning your doctorate and exploring your motivation, funding doctoral studies, the different kinds of doctorate (individual vs. structured), academic career planning and management and dealing with doubts. We can also provide some initial help with mental health issues. Regardless of where you currently are in your doctorate or whether you have not even started, please do not hesitate to contact us and book an appointment if you have any questions.

What we offer

We arrange phone consultations and online sessions via Zoom to discuss your questions and concerns on a one-to-one basis.
Consultations are available in German and English.
The free service is designed for prospective and current doctoral students at any stage of their doctorate.
So that we can tailor our advice as closely as possible to your needs, we ask that you send us your curriculum vitae after booking your appointment. We will keep it confidential and only use it to help us prepare for our consultation.

As well as general life events such as family problems or professional challenges, specific aspects of a doctorate—such as a poor work/life balance or conflicts with your supervisor—can cause stress and overwhelm.
