Johnny Andone came to the studio to report on the winning team of the 2024 Science Award, the start-up company Murmuras, a spin-off from the University of Bonn. The presentation of the EHI Science Award brings him and his team to “We Are Uni Bonn.”

Science-based startup

Konrad Blaszkiewicz, Johnny Andone, Alexander Markowetz, and Qais Kasem are the successful entrepreneurs behind a winning company that has its roots at the University of Bonn: Murmuras has won the 2024 Science Award in the “Best Startup” category.\ The jury, led by Lionel Souque (CEO of REWE) and Christoph Werner (CEO of dm-drogerie Markt), praised Murmuras' new digital platform for researching retail apps, especially their discount coupons. The founding team will receive benefits worth €50,000 through a comprehensive program of networking, coaching, communication, and marketing activities.

Transcending app boundaries

Today's retailer apps are fully integrated shopping worlds. Retail apps combine payment methods, brochures, coupons, customer analysis, and receipts in a single application and often include an online store. Murmuras records the mobile consumer behavior of several thousand test subjects and shows which content in shopping and retail apps was viewed and clicked on, especially discount coupons. And while retailers and manufacturers are limited to data from their own apps, Murmuras analyzes the strategies of all market participants and customer behavior across different apps.
