# Vice Rectorate for Sustainability

Professor Dr. Annette Scheersoi is the Vice Rector for Sustainability. In line with our distinguished status as University of Excellence, sustainability is an issue of uniquely central importance to the University of Bonn. For we are called upon to empower future generations to exercise greater responsibility in shaping society, preserving the environment and conserving resources.
## Strategy
Sustainability concerns all of us. I am very pleased that a dedicated Vice Rectorate has been formed for this area, highlighting its particular importance to our University. Sustainability is thus to be an integral part of our research, teaching and operations. As Vice Rector, I am looking forward to working together with all of you to promote sustainability at our University.

- **since 2013** - W2 Professor of Biology Didactics at the University of Bonn
- **2012** - W2 Professor of Biology and Biology Didactics at the University of Cologne
- **2005–2012** - Lecturer of Biology Didactics at Goethe University Frankfurt
- **2003–2004** - Teacher training and second state exam in Bonn
- **2003** - Doctorate at the Zoological Research Museum Alexander Koenig
- **1992–1998** - Studies in Biology and French Education (Sec. I & II) in Aachen, Bonn and Paris
## The Vice Rectorate for Sustainability and the Sustainability Unit
The Vice-Rectorate and the Sustainability Unit commenced their operations in May 2021 and collaborate together with the Green Office within the framework of and under the name "Team N" (N for "sustainability“).\
Key areas of work:
- Coordinating the transformation process for establishing a culture of sustainability at the University of Bonn.
- Defining the sustainability strategy in cooperation with representatives of the various stakeholder groups (BOOST-AG) and with the Green Office
- Raising awareness of sustainability issues, networking across all relevant stakeholder groups
- Organizing and supporting sustainability initiatives and projects
