Academic integrity and high-quality research and teaching are standard practice at the University of Bonn. For this reason, the Bonn spirit of 'We' also guides our implementation of quality assurance. The university of Bonn facilitates dialogue and collaboration between all stakeholders through various formats and commissions. System accreditation ensures transparent structures and processes in teaching, enabling the continuous development of degree programs. The University of Bonn provides excellent conditions for researchers by offering quality-assured appointment procedures and onboarding, a wide range of advisory and support services, as well as state-of-the-art research infrastructure in core facilities. As a University of Excellence, the University of Bonn relies on peer review. The Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) evaluates Excellence measures within the context of an internal monitoring process. The SAB also advises the university management on long-term institutional development.

Research Integrity

The University of Bonn has issued binding guidelines for safeguarding good research practice and appropriately handling allegations of research misconduct. Independent bodies ensure that suspected cases of research misconduct are investigated in accordance with national and international standards. In the context of animal research, the university is aware of its responsibility towards laboratory animals.

Excellent Teaching

The University of Bonn adopted an Evaluation Policy (EvaLS) that uses operational feedback to manage the quality assurance procedures for study and teaching. Systematic analysis, quality assurance and quality improvements are implemented with the aim of achieving defined study objectives and ensuring that study progresses in in a coordinated manner.

Internationalization

In 2017, the University of Bonn successfully passed the “Internationalization of Higher Education Institutions” audit of the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK).

Knowledge and Technology Transfer

In 2018, the University of Bonn carried out the transfer audit with moderation by the Stifterverband, and further professionalized and expanded the enaCom Transfer Center.
