Our work focuses on making research results available for the benefits of society. enaCom is the central point of contact for all matters relating to University knowledge and technology transfer – for University of Bonn members and everyone else being interested to co-operate with us.

start2grow start-up competition awards “SxDiagnostics”2

The “SxDiagnostics” project from the University of Bonn and the University Hospital Bonn (UKB) prevailed against over 100 competing teams in the start2grow competition and placed in the (shared) 4th to 10th spots. Start2grow is organized nationwide by the Dortmund Economic Development Agency and celebrated its 25th anniversary this year.

University of Bonn to Receive Start-up Center.NRW for Life Sciences and AI3

The University of Bonn is expanding its start-up consulting services in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and the life sciences. With the new “U-Bo-LIFE-AI” Start-up Center.NRW, it will be enhancing entrepreneurial expertise and access to networks of investors and established companies in a systematic way. The University will be receiving roughly €1 million over the next three years from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and NRW’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Action and Energy to set up “U-Bo-LIFE-AI” and develop it further.

Prototyping grants fund research with impact4

The prototyping grants from the University of Bonn's Transfer Center enaCom promote scientific ideas that are to be prepared for practical application. All scientists at the University of Bonn can apply for funding of up to €25,000 until March 1, 2026. Last year, eight teams further developed their prototypes with the support of the grant.

Start-up Pheno-Inspect GmbH closes seed funding round5

Pheno-Inspect GmbH, an AgTech start-up that emerged from research work at the University of Bonn, has successfully closed its first seed financing round. In addition to NRW.BANK and several private investors via the Companisto business angel network, one of the leading agricultural machinery groups, CLAAS, has also joined the company as a strategic investor. Pheno-Inspect GmbH was founded in 2020 as a start-up of the University of Bonn by Dr. Philipp Lottes and Prof. Dr. Cyrill Stachniss (Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformation and Cluster of Excellence 'PhenoRob').

Transfer Strategy

The University of Bonn has adopted a transfer strategy that describes the central aspects and objectives of knowledge and technology transfer. It serves as an orientation for a common understanding of transfer that promotes the exchange between science and society, which takes place at different levels and by different means. enaCom - enabling people to create opportunities

Communion

enaCom is committed to promoting transfer of knowledge and technology. We combine different transfer activities from all research areas of the University. We document successful transfer formats and give them visibility. We present best practices from within the University and act as a showcase for the most exciting transfer projects to the outside world.

Communication

enaCom informs about innovative research results close to application. We talk about science offering meet-ups for different stakeholders in business and society. As a central point of contact and gateway for co-operation, we connect all stakeholders inside and outside the University.

Commitment

enaCom is committed to all stakeholders interested in knowledge exchange; researchers and students, as well as practitioners and citizens outside the academic community. Dialogue promotes a broad, research-based transfer of knowledge. We therefore speak both languages, the language of academics and the language of professionals.

Companion

enaCom provides individual consulting and assistance to support the multidimensional transfer activities of the University. We always help existing and future partners inside and outside the University and provide unbureaucratic, efficient service.

Commercialisation

enaCom handles all matters concerning utilization of the excellent research results achieved by the University. We provide information on the options available for protecting intellectual property rights and how to bring inventions to start-up.
