For all enrolled students, the office of the examination authority (examination board) in charge of their chosen degree program is an important point of contact. Being enrolled in a given degree program does not automatically mean that you have been admitted to the (module) examinations in that program – a common misunderstanding. That is why you usually have to apply for admission to the bachelor’s or master’s examination as early as in your first program-related semester. Once your application has been approved, you are registered in BASIS (our campus management system with an electronic course catalog), enabling you to self-register and self-unregister electronically for any examination you may wish to take. At the same time, the office of the examination authority will create and manage your examination file.

The examination authorities will advise you on everything related to examination matters and provide information on registration policies for specific courses, details regarding specific examinations and other matters. In addition, they are responsible for placing students at higher program-related semesters1.

Bachelor’s, Master’s and State Examinations

The examination authority in charge of your program is happy to assist you with the following issues:

What are the content-related and/or formal requirements I must satisfy to be admitted to each of the (partial) module examinations?
What is the deadline for registering for a (partial) module examination?
What is the deadline for unregistering from an examination?
What happens if I miss a deadline?
What do I do if I’m ill on examination day?
What is the policy for repeating an examination if my result is “insufficient”?
Is there any way I can improve my grade if it is at least sufficient?
How do I find a topic for my bachelor’s or master’s thesis?
