Business Law is made up of a wide range of legal areas, including business associations, intellectual property, securities, employment, sale of goods, tax, and trade law.  The University of Calgary Faculty of Law offers core business law subjects and courses that blend these topics so students can see how they work together in courses like Entrepreneurial Law, Corporate Finance, and Fintech Law & Policy.

UCalgary’s innovative and practice-based curriculum trains law students to analyze agreements and structure deals.  We offer the oldest and most developed business venture clinic, where you will have the opportunity to work with startup teams in creating new businesses. As well, we offer numerous extra-curricular activities designed to prepare you for life as a corporate lawyer.

Our alumni have gone on to become leaders in law firms, corporations, startups, investment banks, and regulators.  We have one of the best placement rates for our students in corporate law firms, partly because of our location in Calgary, which possesses the highest concentration of head offices of any city in Canada.
