### [Can I enter the Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) program from High School?](#collapse1340851840)

Yes, our direct entry program is available for High School applicants to enter Year 1.  Direct-entry students take Business courses in their first year of the program. ### [Can I transfer into the BComm program from another post-secondary institution?](#collapse784480106)

### [What is the competitive GPA to transfer or change into the BComm program?](#collapse1547554738)

The competitive GPA can change from year to year as it is based on the applicant pool and space available in the program quota.  Students should apply early, when applications open.  As with all competitive programs, there is no guaranteed admission.

### [Can I transfer/change into the BComm program during the Winter/Spring/Summer?](#collapse396378193)

No, the Bachelor of Commerce program offers Fall (September-December) intake only.  Applications open in the Fall.

### [Which courses are required to transfer/change into the BComm program?](#collapse584460520)

Students applying as a transfer/change of program students must have a minimum of the following six required courses (18 units):

- 3 units junior English
- 3 units calculus (IE MATH 249 or 265, or equivalent)
- 6 units of statistics (IE STAT 213 and STAT 217, or equivalents)
- 3 units of microeconomics (IE ECON 201 or equivalent)
- 3 units of macroeconomics (IE ECON 203 or equivalent)

**Additional admission details**

12 units completed by the end of the Fall Term in the year of application including a minimum of 9 units of required courses for admission. All required courses for admission (18 units) must be completed by the end of the Winter Term in the year of application.

Equivalent International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced Placement (AP) courses or SAT2 subject tests are accepted.

Statistics 213 or equivalent must be completed by the end of the Fall Term of the year of application.

### [How is transfer credit assessed?](#collapse316172245)

For students who have more than the prescribed 6 courses (18 units) above, any courses that are eligible for transfer credit should be given transfer credit by the Admissions office. Any of these transfer courses that can be used towards the BComm program will be used up to a maximum of 20 courses (60 units). Of those 20 transfer courses (60 units), a maximum of 6 courses (18 units) can be business courses. The 6 courses required for admission do not count as business courses.

Students can view course transferability between Alberta post-secondary institutions online through the [Alberta Transfer Guide](http://transferalberta.alberta.ca/). Transcripts will be reviewed by the Admissions office for official transfer credit once prospective students have applied for admission to the University of Calgary.

### [What is the Cooperative Education (Co-op) program?](#collapse1193050301)

The Cooperative Education program allows students to combine learning in the classroom with real world experience. Students apply academic knowledge through relevant, paid work experience.

### [What year do I select on my application?](#collapse509380806)

Students entering directly from High School are eligible for Year 1. Transfer/change of program students students are usually eligible for Year 2. Regardless, the admissions office will assess year eligibility before it is finalized. Students do not need to be concerned regarding this selection.
