#### Decision-Making Capacity Assessment Workshops
Possible Sessions September 2025
These workshops will help the primary care provider navigate the process related to the Alberta Adult Guardianship & Trusteeship, Personal Directives and Enduring Power of Attorney Acts. Two series workshops are offered and participants have a choice of engaging in the Level 1 and/or the Level 2 workshop. **Level 1 covers the basic information to assess decision-making capacity and the interdisciplinary approach. Level 2 provides a deeper dive into the application of the basic information on decision-making capacity assessment (DMCA).**

#### Current Obstetrical Management Seminars
This program is intended to provide an opportunity to review and update your knowledge and management of normal and abnormal obstetrical cases. Issues with respect to newborn care, lactation, preconception care and planning, women’s mental health and postpartum management will also be covered.

The Alberta Sexual Assault Course and Conference is designed to share core training and provide management updates for urban and rural healthcare professionals caring for patients that have experienced sexual violence. The course endeavours to provide broad training with sessions that are tailored to both medical and non-medical professionals. Examples of course topics include completing sexual assault examination kits, communication tools for connection after trauma, sexual violence in digital spaces and understanding investigative processes.

#### Preparation Course for the CCFP Exam
**Sessions Hosted in September and March**
This course is designed for **practice eligible physicians** who are preparing to undertake the CCFP Exam. The course will provide participants with an overview of the principles of family medicine, an overview of the patient-centred clinical method, an introduction to the **Simulated Office Oral (SOO)** component of the exam, skills and strategies to use in patient interviews that can be applied to the exam, four practice SOOs with feedback from experienced examiners, pre-course practice with **Short Answer Management Problems (SAMPs)** and feedback, an opportunity to practice writing SAMPs in an exam-like setting and to discuss the SAMP component of the exam.
The focus of this course is to help participants familiarize themselves with the format, types of questions and marking scheme as well as to share tips and tricks on how to answer, and not to provide detailed educational teaching on the hot topics.

#### Practice Readiness Assessment Orientation for International Medical Graduate Candidates
Upon completion of the group series, IMG candidates will be equipped to:
• Relate the competencies of CanMEDS roles in the context of caring for patients in Alberta\
• Employ strategies in response to common challenges in IMG practice and integration into Canadian healthcare system\
• Initiate an action plan for continuing learning in practice

#### Medical Record Keeping
**Multiple Cohorts Offered**
The medical record facilitates good care. With contemporaneous documentation of patient encounters, the reflection and review can reinforce the consistency, completeness and quality of your clinical activities. This program aims to address sufficient documentation, which is central to patient safety and continuity of quality care. Participants will learn how to appropriately document patient encounters following the Subjective Objective Assessment Plan (SOAP) format.
