## Program overview

The MEng in mechanical and manufacturing engineering gives you a competitive advantage, whether you are focusing your career in a specific area or expanding your opportunities across sectors. This program is often completed in one to two years of full-time study, and part-time options are available. Taking your education beyond your four-year bachelor’s degree, you will enhance your knowledge with 10 technical courses. This will enable you to expand or focus your career, depending on your goals, in a variety of sectors.

### **MEng Internship**

This program offers an 8-to-16 month full-time paid internship with companies across Canada to help students gain engineering work experience in a diverse economy. Limited spots are available.

### Completing this program

- **Core courses:** 10 courses are required to complete this degree. Students can combine courses around the following themes within the field:
  - Mechatronics
  - Aerospace and Energy Systems
  - Advance Manufacturing and Product Design

### Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the professional MEng program in mechanical and manufacturing engineering, graduates will have a balance of the fundamental knowledge and practical skills required to work in a wide variety of industries in Canada, and worldwide. This includes, but isn’t limited to, work in robotics and autonomous systems, oil and gas, renewable energy, clean technology, aerospace, biomedical engineering and nanotechnology.

**A course-based master’s degree in mechanical engineering is usually considered a final degree.**

## Admission Requirements

---

#### GPA

A minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 point system, over the past two years of full-time study (a minimum of 10 full-course equivalents or 60 units) of the undergraduate degree.

#### Minimum education

A four-year baccalaureate degree in mechanical engineering, or an equivalent degree, from a recognized institution. Consideration may also be given for BSc degrees in other fields.

#### Work samples

None

#### Documents

One official copy of your final transcript (and degree certificate if degree is not clearly stated on transcript) in a signed, sealed envelope from the institution attended. **Unofficial transcripts can be uploaded to the online application for initial evaluation purposes. Admission offers, however, are conditional upon receipt of official transcripts.**

- Official transcripts can be mailed to us directly from the institution, or they can be mailed to you directly and you can send them to us yourself
- We will not accept unsealed official transcripts as official

#### Deadlines

We encourage you to apply early as this program receives a high volume of applications and reaches capacity quickly. We send offers to qualified applicants on a rolling basis. For international applicants, applications will be reviewed taking country-specific study permit processing times into consideration. Please refer to the [IRCC processing times website](https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-processing-times.html) to ensure that you are applying for a term that would allow for sufficient time for review and study permit application. Your application may be moved to a future term if additional time is required.

**For admission on September 1:**

Deadline for International applicants: April 1

Deadline for Domestic applicants: April 1

**For admission on January 1:**

Deadline for International applicants: August 20

Deadline for Domestic applicants: August 20

To accommodate **extended study permit processing times for students from Iran**, we will be accepting applications from **Iranian applicants** for the **Fall intake until December 1**, and for the **Winter intake until April 1**. This deadline is intended to allow sufficient time for review and study permit application.
