Welcome to the University of Calgary
The University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, both acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7. The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).
About the program
Indigenous worldviews play an invaluable role in engineering processes and design practices. As such, there is a strong demand for Indigenous engineers at the university and in the profession. In alignment with the University of Calgary's Indigenous Strategy, ii' taa'poh' to' p, the Schulich School of Engineering has created the Schulich Indigenous Pathways Program.
The Pathways Program is is designed to support Indigenous individuals passionate about STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) in achieving a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. We will aim to foster an Indigenous-centered community in which students are provided with the requisite supports that promote their skill development, well-being and success as engineering scholars.
As you explore the page, know that if you have any questions about any aspect of the program, please contact us. You can reach us at 403.220.5975 or by emailing us at the link below.

What do engineers do?
Biomedical Engineering
Biomedical Engineers work at the intersection of medicine, engineering, science, and other disciplines to solve challenges in human and animal health.
Chemical Engineering
Chemical Engineers develop safe, sustainable, and cost-effective processes that convert raw materials into valuable everyday products.
Civil Engineering
Civil Engineers design, build, maintain and conserve sustainable, resilient infrastructure and communities, adaptive to the climates of today and tomorrow.
Electrical Engineering
Electrical Engineers design, test, and oversee production of electrical equipment for tech, information, telecommunications, imaging and power.
Engineering Physics
Engineering Physicists apply their knowledge of physics, electrical and mechanical engineering in high tech services such as space physics, quantum information and medical imaging.
Geomatics Engineering
Geomatics Engineers use geospatial data to support land rights, telecoms, energy, 3D imaging, earth observation, software and robotics.
Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical Engineers research, design and optimize all systems that move; from wind turbines or solar powered cars, to emerging medical tech.
Software Engineering
Software Engineers develop, install, validate and maintain computer programs for everything, including electronic games, critical infrastructure, machine learning and data security.
Sustainable Systems Engineering
