The Haskayne School of Business offers combined degrees with the faculties of Law, Nursing, Cumming School of Medicine, School of Public Policy, and School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape. To optimize the financial investment and time commitment, students are awarded degrees by both faculties without completing the full complement of courses in both programs.

Students can choose to do a combined degree with another faculty, such as:

JD/MBA (Juris Doctor)

The combined program with law positions students to be successful in roles such as practicing law within a corporation, running a private practice or being a business advisor on the legal and regulatory environment.

JD/MBA students typically complete their first year of studies in the law department, the second year in Haskayne and the third and fourth year combining their studies.

Required Core Courses

To complete the JD/MBA degree students must complete 15 MBA courses (out of 20), including the 14 required core courses:

If a student has an undergraduate business degree they may be eligible for core course exemptions; they will be required to complete additional electives.

For more information on the curriculum and experiential opportunities see the Daytime MBA page.

Admissions

JD/MBA students are typically admitted into the Juris Doctor program and apply to the MBA program during the first year of studies; a separate application must be submitted for each program.

The application requirements for combined MBA degrees are the same as for the regular Daytime/Evening MBA. Applicants from the Juris Doctor program may be eligible for a GMAT waiver if they have a score of 158 or higher on the LSAT.

Further information on application criteria and components, how to apply and application deadlines for the MBA Program can be found here.

Please also review the deadlines for the Faculty of Law.

MPP/MBA (Master of Public Policy)

The combined program with the School of Public Policy positions students to be successful in roles at the interface of government and industry such as corporate social responsibility officers, within regulatory bodies and entrepreneurship in non-profit.

MPP/MBA students typically complete their first year of studies in the School of Public Policy, the second year in Haskayne and the third and fourth year combining their studies.
