Sixteen PhD students at the University of Calgary have been named 2025 Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Scholars, an award that recognizes outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and research that is reshaping our understanding of the world. Among the recipients is BHSc alumna Megan Kinzel, who is completing her PhD in Immunology.\

### BHSc alumna earns Top 40 Under 40 award by Avenue Calgary

Meaghan Nolan (BHSc'07) thought she was on the path to becoming a doctor. The born-and-raised Calgarian completed a bachelor’s degree in health sciences and a master’s in health and exercise physiology at [UCalgary](https://www.ucalgary.ca/) before realizing she was much too squeamish for the role. This led her to discover her true passion: health technology.

### Students honoured with 2023 Vanier Award for conducting health research
February 21, 2024
BHSc alumnus one of three to be awarded the 2023 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship (Vanier CGS). Fahad Iqbal, BHSc'20, is currently completing a joint MD/PhD in neuroscience. Iqbal's research focuses on supporting those with epilepsy.
